Kia has announced that its Kia Charge public charging service now has over 100,000 subscriptions, marking another milestone in the brand's goal of becoming the leading electric mobility brand in Europe.
The service currently offers access to more than 700,000 charging points across 28 countries in Europe, and is utilised by up to 60% of Kia electric vehicle owners. The service is said to already have supported more than two million charging sessions, after having first launched in September 2021.
Customers utilising the service can opt for either a pay-as-you-go subscription, or one that offers discounted charging prices, catered for more intensive usage.
The firm plans to support the expansion of more than 17,000 high-power charging stations along European highways by 2030 through its partnership with high-power charging network Ionity and is further looking to develop solutions that will allow users of the Kia Charge service to make use of Vehicle-to-Grid and Vehicle-to-Home technology that will allow more efficient use of green energy and relieve power grid congestion during periods of peak electricity demand.
