Want all the elegance and sleek design of a coupe but find the CLA180 we tested a few weeks back a little too small for your needs? Mercedes-Benz Singapore has just the thing you need.
The firm has launched the new CLE Coupe here. Stretching out to a total length of 4,850mm and rising to just 1,428mm tall, the CLE Coupe is longer and shorter than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan, and is being launched here equipped with a 201bhp 2.0-litre four cylinder engine, although the CLE Cabriolet and Mercedes-AMG CLE53 Coupe will also be offered here in due time.
Equipped with this 2.0-litre engine, the CLE Coupe will complete the century sprint in 7.4 seconds. All this power and a maximum torque of 320Nm is sent to a nine-speed automatic transmission in the car.
Up front, the CLE Coupe impresses with its 'shark-nose' front profile paired with two slim LED head lights. Another typical feature of Mercedes' coupes, the use of power domes atop the hood, continues to make an appearance on the long bonnet of this CLE Coupe.
At the rear lies yet another touch from Mercedes' coupe SUV lineup - the rear lights of the CLE Coupe are now connected via a dark red design element, drawing emphasis to the width of the vehicle.
In the cabin of the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe is the firm's 12.3-inch digital instrument display, paired with an 11.9-inch portrait format central display.
The firm's impressive 64-colour ambient lighting is also present in the CLE Coupe, which illuminates the car's instrument panel, the cupholders in the centre console, and the door handles amongst other components. Also present here is Mercedes' multi-function steering wheel, while the front seats that feature here have been specially developed for the CLE and feature integrated headrests.
Customers will also find their coupe equipped with an advanced sound system that features a total of nine loudspeakers, which offer a total output of 225W. A Burmester 3D Surround Sound system is also available, which comes with 17 speakers and offers a total output of 710W.
The Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe comes with a four-link suspension system at the front and utilises a multi-link steup at the rear wheels. A rear-wheel steering system also features in the coupe, which can turn the rear wheels a maximum of 2.5 degrees, reducing the vehicle's turning circle by 0.5m.
