Top down in a roadster that will complete the century sprint in 4.2 seconds. That's what the new Mercedes-AMG CLE53 Cabriolet is offering.
Just six months after unveiling the CLE53 Coupe, those who want all the open top thrills alongside AMG performance can now opt for the CLE53 Cabriolet.
As with the coupe, powering this new convertible is a revised iteration of Mercedes' 3.0-litre six-cylinder that now offers a total of 442bhp alongside a peak torque of 560Nm, although this can be raised to a total of 600Nm for up to 10 seconds thanks to an overboost feature.
Upgraded piston rings, a modified injection system a new exhaust turbocharger, and an additional electric compressor, Mercedes states, allows this engine to offer improved torque build-up and raised engine response than before.
Also mirroring the CLE53 Coupe, the new convertible gets a more aggressively styled front and bonnet compared to the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe. The car also gets a widened track (58mm wider at the front and 75mm wider at the rear axle), and round double tailpipes at either end that sit within its rear skirt.
Customers will be able to specify their CLE53 Cabriolet with flics on the front and rear skirts, a spoiler lip on the luggage compartment lid in high-gloss black and a diffuser panel between the tailpipe trims, all as part of the AMG Styling package.
The cabin of the Mercedes-AMG CLE53 Cabriolet features the same 11.9-inch driver-oriented central display which can electrically adjust its tilt angle from 15 to 40 degrees to prevent distracting light reflections when the top is open. This screen pairs with a free-standing 12.3-inch fully digital driver display.
Also present here are leather seats that come with a special coating which reflects infrared radiation. These, Mercedes states, allow them to stay up to 12 degrees cooler in direct sunlight compared to untreated leather.
Mercedes-AMG's 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, the AMG Ride Control adaptive adjustable damping system, and rear-wheel steering are all standard for the CLE53 Cabriolet.
